On December 26, 2017, Director General of Russian Anti-Doping Agency Yuri Ganus and President of the Russian Weightlifting Federation Maxim Agapitov signed Joint Action Program of the Russian Weightlifting Federation and Russian Anti-Doping Agency “RUSADA” on preventing Anti-Doping Rules Violations in the weightlifting in the Russian Federation. The Joint Action Program takes into account the current compliance requirements of sport federations and is aimed at overcoming the crisis in the Russian Weightlifting Federation and preventing Anti-Doping Rules Violations in the weightlifting in the Russian Federation in the future. The program includes such important components as increasing the number of athletes in the extended testing pool, raising the volume of target testing of the athletes of the Russian Weightlifting Federation, introducing mandatory doping control at the qualifying competitions of the Russian Weightlifting Federation, commercial testing of athletes paid by the Russian Weightlifting Federation, conducting joint investigations with RUSADA of doping violations and disciplinary investigations of potential anti-doping rules violations by the athletes and staff of the Russian Weightlifting Federation. Signing and implementing this Program demonstrates the adherence of the Russian Weightlifting Federation to the ideals of clean sport.
