The Russian anti-doping agency RUSADA organized a round table for the participants of the XVIII International Scientific Conference on the state and prospects of medicine in high performance sports "SportMed-2023".

Within the framework of the round table the leading Russian experts in this field made presentations. Igor Vykhodets, Deputy Head of the Department of Sports Medicine and Digitalization of FMBA of Russia, spoke about the duties of a sports medicine specialist. He noted:
"We need to build an educational vertical, developing a system of proper information about anti-doping from the student bench. Now only one or two universities in the country include in their educational program information about the fight against doping in sport - and this is only in the specialized subject: rehabilitation, sports medicine. But there are a lot of proposals to build this vertical; three approved professional standards already include points on anti-doping in sport. Also together with the Ministry of Health we will think how we can include at least 4 hours of lectures on anti-doping in the cycle of advanced training of doctors and nursing staff".

Alexey Repetyuk, Chief Specialist of RUSADA's TUE Department, gave an overview of the main changes in the 2024 Prohibited List. Pavel Khorkin, Head of the RUSADA TUE Department, highlighted the current issues of the system of interaction between the regional executive authorities in the field of healthcare and RUSADA.

Veronika Loginova, RUSADA Director General, separately noted:
"The athlete's number one obligation is to comply with the rules of participation in competitions, and anti-doping rules are one of them. When seeking treatment, he should remember about the existing restrictions and immediately inform the doctor about their presence. RUSADA, in its turn, does everything to ensure the possibility to test the drug as soon as possible thanks to a special service on the RUSADA website. Also, the FMBA CSM publishes an authorized list where drugs are grouped by symptoms, it is a very convenient tool".

Alexey Shchesul, consultant of the Division of Blood Service Organization and Sports Medicine of the Department of Organization of Emergency Medical Care and Health Risk Management of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation spoke in detail about the plan of activities in the field of anti-doping policy, which was created jointly with the FMBA and RUSADA and is implemented in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Evgeny Achkasov, Head of the Department of Sports Medicine and Medical Rehabilitation at Sechenov University and member of the RUSADA Supervisory Board, concluded the round table. He noted the importance of RUSADA's activity in the regions, and also reported on the agency's special focus on scientific activity, in particular, thanks to the recently established Scientific Council at RUSADA.
