Association Russian Anti-Doping Agency RUSADA organized an educational anti-doping conference for All-Russian Sport Federations “Educational Anti-Doping Strategies of All-Russian Sport Federations: Development and Implementation”. The conference was held at the Russian Olympic Committee on November 14.
The event was supported by the Russian Olympic Committee, and was held with participation of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, in fulfillment of the measures on implementing the National Plan on Fighting Doping in Russian Sport, adopted by the Independent Public Anti-Doping Commission on February 1, 2017.
Chairman of the Independent Public Anti-Doping Commission Vitaly Smirnov, First Vice President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov, President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Vladimir Lukin, Director of the Department of Science and education of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation Tatiana Fomichenko and Director General of RAA RUSADA Yury Ganus gave a welcoming address to the conference participants.
RUSADA Director General highlighted the importance and the need of joint work of all Russian sport federations and the organizations working in the area of anti-doping.
The moderator of the educational session was Deputy Director General of RAA RUSADA Margarita Pakhnotskaya. She gave a presentation on peculiarities of educational programs implementation and the anti-doping educational strategy in the Russian Federation.
The role of All-Russian Sport Federations in preventing anti-doping rules violations was described in detail by the Russian Federation Ministry of Sport representative Alsu Makhmutova.
A number of participants shared their experience of implementing anti-doping educational strategies in All-Russian Sport Federations: anti-doping coordinator of Russian Athletics Federation Elena Ikonnikova, Head of Anti-Doping Commission of Russian Weightlifting Federation Alexander Petrov, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Deputy Head of the Medical Panel of the Russian Paralympic Committee Guzel Idrisova, doctor of the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center of Sport Medicine of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency Andrei Abramov.
The issues related to TUE application were described by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Science, Chairman of the Committee on Therapeutic Use Exemptions of RAA RUSADA Victoria Badtieva.
The key provisions of the International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions were highlighted by RUSADA Head of Department on Therapeutic Use Exemptions Pavel Khorkin.
In conclusion, the conference participants summarized the results and expressed the willingness to share experience of implementing complex information and educational programs, aimed at fighting against doping in sport.
